River Dell Varsity Girls Softball Team Unleashes Power in 9-4 Win Over Holy Angels

The River Dell Golden Hawks Varsity Girls Softball Team rolled past Holy Angels 9-4 at River Dell High School in Oradell, New Jersey.

The game took an interesting turn in the Top 1st when River Dell fell behind 1-0. However, the Team quickly responded in the bottom half of the frame, tying the game on an error by the Holy Angels infield. This turning point set the stage for the rest of the game.

In the second inning, the Golden Hawks went ahead on another miscue by the Angels infield. River Dell shortstop Helena Marcus sac fly extended the lead to 3-1. The Golden Hawks capitalized on another error the Holy Angels infield committed to increase the margin to 4-1.

River Dell’s first baseman, Norah Cerna, played a crucial role in expanding the lead to 5-1 with her RBI infield single. However, the highlight of the inning was centerfielder Olivia Hanna’s two-run home run over the centerfield fence, a marquee moment that left the audience in awe. Right fielder Abby Bartelloni’s RBI triple was the perfect way to cap off an impressive seven-run inning.

Holy Angels chipped away at the Golden Hawks with a three-run Top 6th that made it an 8-4 game, but River Dell’s starting pitcher, Leandra Martin, shut the door with a ground out.

Golden Hawks catcher Val Visconti also got into the long ball act leading off the bottom half of the sixth, walloping a solo home run over the centerfield fence.

Leandra Martin continued to pile up the strikeouts in the Top 7th, amassing a pair that pushed her game total to eight. Martin got a Holy Angels hitter to line out to Helena Marcus, ending the game.
