River Dell Varsity Girls Softball Team Extends Winning Streak to Four in 12-3 Rout of Fort Lee

The River Dell Golden Hawks Varsity Softball Team extended their winning streak to four games in a 12-3 rout of Fort Lee at River Dell High School in Oradell, New Jersey.

River Dell quickly jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI triple from Olivia Hanna.

With a strategic move, the Golden Hawks extended their lead to 3-0 in the second inning, thanks to a two-run single by Julia Marcus. Helena Marcus followed suit, widening the margin to 5-0 with a powerful two-run down the left field line.

River Dell kept the inning rolling on an RBI ground out by Val Visconti. Norah Cerna capped the seven-run outburst, ripping an RBI single into center field.

Golden Hawks starting pitcher Leandra Gilmartin showcased her dominance on the hill, striking out five hitters in the first four innings of action.

In the fourth inning, River Dell unleashed their power on a two-run home run off the bat of Val Visconti. Kaitlyn Villalba added an RBI single to expand the Golden Hawks’ lead to 11-2. Sophia Tortorella added an RBI single in the sixth inning, boosting the lead to 12-3.

Leandra Gilmartin went the distance, yielding two earned runs while fanning seven hitters.
