The River Dell Golden Hawks Varsity Baseball Team fell to the Paramus Catholic Paladins 10-2 in the 2024 regular season home finale at River Dell High School in Oradell, New Jersey.

Paramus Catholic wasted no time jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning against River Dell starting pitcher Luke Bosetti. The Golden Hawks had an opportunity to respond in the bottom half of the frame with runners on first and second with two outs, but Jeremy Ballestas registered a strikeout that dashed those hopes.

The Paladins tacked on a run in the second inning. Irei Hashimoto replaced Bosetti on the mound in the third inning, bringing the fire as he struck out two hitters.

Paramus Catholic poured it on in the fourth inning, tallying four additional runs. Once again, River Dell had runners in scoring position in the bottom half of the inning but could not break through.

Paramus Catholic added two more runs in the sixth inning to widen the margin to 10-0. The Golden Hawks finally managed to put in the chink in the armor that Jeremy Balllestas had built as Mason Nagle belted a single for River Dell’s first hit of the game.

After Baristas recorded two consecutive strikeouts, Matt Dunphy ripped an RBI double to center field. The Golden Hawks struck paydirt in the seventh inning on an RBI single by Mason Nagle that made it 10-2, but that would be as close the score would get as the Paladins emerged victorious.
