River Dell Varsity Boys Lacrosse Team Defeats Paramus 9-6 in 2024 Regular Season Home Finale

The River Dell Golden Hawks defeated the Paramus Spartans 9-6 in the 2024 regular season home finale at River Dell High School in Oradell, New Jersey.

River Dell jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals from RJ Weiss and Eric Raimondi in the first quarter. Paramus narrowed the gap to 2-1 with less than four minutes left.

Less than a minute later, Liam Boyle, a key player for the Golden Hawks, snapped a shot into the net, expanding their lead to 3-1. RJ Weiss, another standout player, tallied his second goal with a minute and a half remaining to stretch out the margin to 4-1.

The Spartans struck early in the second quarter, 23 seconds. River Dell responded with a pair of goals in a minute and a half, with Michael Greco finding the back of the net and Eric Raimondi uncorking a laser shot for his second goal of the game.

Paramus scored at the eight-minute mark to make it 6-3, but the Golden Hawks answered back at the seven-minute stage as RJ Weiss hit a significant milestone with his 100th career goal and second in the contest.

The Spartans scored with five and a half minutes to make it 7-4 at halftime. In the third quarter, Paramus closed within 7-5 with ten and a half minutes left.

Once the fourth quarter commenced, Deacon McGovern heaved a shot into the net to extend the River Dell lead to 8-5. Twenty-one seconds later, Liam Boyle rifled a shot into the net to increase the Golden Hawks’ margin to 9-5. Paramus scored with four and a half minutes to go, but River Dell’s staunch defense prevented the Spartans from adding further goals.
