The Old Tappan Golden Knights offense erupted in a 50-6 win over the Bergenfield Bears at Northern Valley Regional High School in Old Tappan, New Jersey.

A botched punt attempt by Bergenfield on their opening offensive possession gave Old Tappan’s offense terrific field position at the Bergenfield five-yard line.

The Golden Knights immediately seized the opportunity on a touchdown pass from quarterback Zachary Miceli to wide receiver Ronan Malady.

Old Tappan’s defense forced the Bears’ offense into a quick three-and-out. The Golden Knights started out at their own 36-yard line and swiftly moved the ball down the field on a pair of pass completions by quarterback Zachary Miceli.

Once inside the ten-yard line, Miceli took the snap, then bolted around the right edge of the line and into the end zone for the eight-yard score, extending the Old Tappan advantage to 14-0.

Late in the first quarter, the Golden Knights offense created a highlight reel moment. Zachary Miceli completed a pass to tight end Shane Small, who shook off a couple of Bergenfield defensive players and sprinted down the left side of the field and into the end zone for the 70-yard touchdown.

In the second quarter, Old Tappan dialed up another successful pass play. Alex Orecchio, under center, dropped back in the pocket and unleashed a 22-yard touchdown pass to Shane Small, widening the margin to 28-0.

The Golden Knights’s defense, relentless in its pursuit of running and pass plays, led the Bears to punt the ball away. Old Tappan’s offense, back in the red zone, capitalized on the chance. Zachary Miceli rolled out of the pocket and slung a five-yard touchdown pass to Shane Small, who made a phenomenal one-handed catch on the play.

Bergenfield’s sloppy play on special teams led to Golden Knights linebacker Damian Dutoit recovering the ball. Old Tappan’s offense was in prime position inside the red zone, as quarterback Alex Orecchiop darted to the end zone for the 15-yard touchdown that boosted the lead to 42-0 at halftime.

In the third quarter, the Golden Knights topped off the scoring for the night with a two-yard touchdown by running back Trot Essmann, followed by Devyn Radoian’s two-point conversion run.

The Bears finally managed to get on the scoreboard on a 16-yard touchdown run by fullback Nasir Evans.
